Weddings
are a time of celebration, and for many people, that means an open bar
and alcohol flowing. But some couples--for a variety of reasons--decide
to have an alcohol-free affair. While many guests might not be happy
about it, you can have a fun reception without serving a drop of booze!
Think about a daytime wedding.
It's
easier to "pass off" an alcohol-free wedding during the day, when many
guests might have commitments afterwards (such as taking care of their
kids or even heading to work). Friday and Saturday nights are times when
guests will probably expect alcohol, but a Sunday morning or afternoon
is perfect for a dry affair (and will probably save you big money!).
Don't skip the toast.
The
lack of champagne doesn’t mean you can’t have a bevy of toasts at your
wedding--just fill those flutes with sparkling cider instead.
Offer up plenty of options.
Think
beyond serving only water and soft drinks--you can have signature
cocktails minus the alcohol. You can also serve flavored sodas, iced
teas and lemonades to give guests a variety of options. Or mix up a
punch that guests can help themselves to.
Celebrate the seasons.
If
you're getting married in the summer, have frozen virgin margaritas,
daiquiris and pina coladas on-hand. Fall and winter brides can offer
guests a variety of flavored hot chocolates and lattes.
Go crazy with coffee.
When
your dessert comes out, serve it with a variety of coffee options.
Check your local coffee shops--they might be available to show up and
serve different flavors, as well as hot and cold options. You could even
hire a barista to do a cool latte design station after dinner and
dessert have been served.
Plan fun activities.
Planning
a variety of fun activities--photo booth, table games and even outdoor
activities for a summer wedding--will make guests forget their not
drinking!
Hire a great band or DJ.
Alcohol
does loosen people up and get them to dance, so if you're not going to
serve it, then you must splurge on an amazing band or DJ with great skills
I don't fucking care about this men!!!
