YANNIK COLLIN PROVES HIS TALENT IN ACTING AND PRODUCING SHORT FILMS

Yannik Collin is a Canadian actor who now lives in Los Angeles. When he was growing up in Quebec, he would watch movies over and over and over again. He studied them and learned a great deal about acting and filmmaking from them. His passion for movies finally took the form of realizing that he didn’t just want to be a professional actor – he needed to be a professional actor. That epiphany came to him when he was 17 so he immediately dropped out of school and went to work at a coffee house similar to Starbucks. He saved every penny he made and when he had enough money he said goodbye to his family and friends and moved to Los Angeles to become an actor.

His life sounds like a great movie in itself. While he was serving lattes to customer in the Great White North he was also making short films with a group of friends and acting in them also. Through that process he understood the language of film and what it took to be a film actor. When he got to L.A., however, he also understood that he needed to be trained by real professional so he attended the famous Uta Hagen courses, studied the Strasberg technique, read Shakespeare, Learned about play production and Improv, and among many other disciplines, Yannik enrolled in the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory (LAPAC) where he immersed himself in all things film, theatre and acting.

All of this education certainly moved him into a different level of professionalism and it also enabled him to meet other actors and form a network of film and theatrical friends. One huge thing Yannik learned was that actors need agents in order to find work and he also found out that it is very difficult to get an agent. At least that’s what his friends told him. Yannik, however, got an agent in such a short time after his arrival that his friends were dumbfounded. In fact, he got representation from two agencies, one theatrical and the other for commercials.

He just wants every aspiring actor to know that it can be done and that they should never give up. After all, Yannik is pretty well established at this point and he feels that if he can do it, then anyone else can too.
