The Staging of Marina Zoreva

The theatre is Marina Zoreva’s second home. It is so much a part of her passion and her career that the stage might as well be her constant space. Her first performance as a young school girl in a leading role. From that day on, Marina seized every opportunity to perform. So, it makes perfect sense that her proudest performance and her favorite role is in Shakespeare’s, Romeo and Juliet.

Marina’s formal training began under the mentorship of Sergei Afanasyev, celebrated director and theatre founder in Novosibirsk, Russia. The formative lessons were enhanced during her studies at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre. Stella Adler is acclaimed for training their students in the techniques of voice, improv, Chekov and Shakespeare.

Marina’s performance in Shakespeare’s, Romeo and Juliet showcased her acting talents and furthermore, left a lasting inspiration in her life and for her career.

“My favorite role to date, is Mercutio. I think he is one of the best parts ever existed. I am very happy that I had a chance to play him and I have to admit that I haven’t let him go completely and I don’t think I ever will.”

Playing the role Mercutio was a great challenge to portray for Marina. It’s among her greatest accomplishments to undertake this dynamic character in one of the most defining plays ever written.

At home on the stage, Marina celebrates a vibrant theatre career with leading performances in: Arcadia, in the role of Lady Croom, Still Life, in the role of Joanne Reid, Carol’s Christmas, in the role of Butterscotch Divine, Isaac Babel and the Black Sea, in the role of Anna Akhmatova.

Marina’s stage success has led to featured roles in film, however her passion is to continue to pursue theatre roles.
