Up until the 1990s, the art was completely secluded from the outsiders and even nowadays can be rarely seen in the Western world. The painting is a combination of Indian, Nepalese, Tibetan & Chinese symbols and motifs, which makes Thangka painting a unique and distinctive style of art.
All our paintings come from the original birthplace of Thangkas and are made in an ancient unique way using 24 Carat Gold, Sterling Silver and Precious Minerals. The secret to premium quality paintings is passed by Buddhist Lamas from generation to generation and has been almost lost to humanity. Lama is a title officially extended only to the few dozen Tibetan Buddhist monks who have achieved the highest level of spiritual development.
Most of the art we sell use sacred geometry to create perfect geometrical shapes and aesthetic looks. Thangkas use visual references to speak out about ethical and philosophical questions. The painter must be properly trained and have appropriate knowledge, background and religious understanding to create an accurate Thangka.
