International Star: Jesus Carus
“I’ve learned that your only competition is yourself.”
This is the mantra and work ethic of the
celebrated actor, Jesus Carus.
One of Mexico’s most popular actors, Jesus Carus has built a library
of acclaimed performances from the small screen to the big screen. Now based in
Los Angeles, Carus is set to star in the leading role for the film, ‘The Last Resort’. Directed by Roman Wyden, the film is produced by
Roster LA. The film will shoot on location in Costa Rica and Carus’s new adopted home of Los Angeles.
An actor since the age of five, Carus was inspired by
the work of Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, and Denzel Washington. Classically trained, Carus
built a career starring in some of the most acclaimed and popular television
series on the iconic television network, Televisa - one of Mexico’s elite television networks and one of the most viewed
Spanish-language networks in the world -with 26 television channels across 50 countries.
Carus’s
credits include the most popular Televisa series: ‘La Gata’ (The Stray Cat), ‘Sueño de Amor ‘(Dream of Love), ‘Como Dice el Dicho’
(As the Saying Goes), ‘La Rosa de Guadalupe’, and ‘Antes Muerta que Lichita’ (Anything but Plain). In, Yo No Creo en Los Hombres’
(I Don’t
Believe in Men), Jesus’s portrayal as Leonardo earned him press
coverage in the publication TV Notas - it remains as one of the highlights of
his career, earning him a best actor award.
Carus can also be seen as a leading guest star on
episodes of the series ‘Cambio de Vida’ on TV Azteca, and the series, ‘Entre Dos’. Some of his
film credits include ‘The
Lesson’, where he stars in the leading role – and
the film won Best Short Film at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival.
On stage, Carus fondly recalls his leading performance
in Hitchcock’s “Strangers
on a Train”. Off screen, Jesus Carus has capitalized on his success
as an actor and famous personality. He is the spokesperson for Charly Futbol,
Hotel Vermont, and Rincón Gourmet Restaurant.
